User Hackathon: Module 2 Mastery Challenge (The Question Paper)

[!CAUTION] This is a Hands-Off challenge. Do not manually write code. Your role is as a Commander. You will orchestrate AI agents to build, verify, and document a production-ready system.

1. Challenge Overview

Objective: Draft a comprehensive Markdown specification for a small, functional feature. The specification must be so precise that an AI agent can build it without further clarification.

Time Limit: 4-8 hours Tooling: Use any LLM-powered IDE (Cursor, VS Code + Agentic Extensions, etc.)

2. Choose Your Mission

Choose ONE of the following scenarios to specifically draft in Markdown.

Option A: Personal AI Finance Dashboard

Build a dashboard that:

  • Requirement 1: Consumes a CSV of transactions and categorizes them into "Needs," "Wants," and "Investments."
  • Requirement 2: Generates a Mermaid Pie Chart of the monthly spend.
  • Requirement 3: Includes an "AI Savings Advisor" that suggests 3 actionable tips.
  • Pillars to Show: Hierarchical Structure, Mapping Logic with Lists.

Option B: Intelligent Project Planner

Develop a tool that:

  • Requirement 1: Takes a high-level project description and breaks it down into Gantt Chart steps.
  • Requirement 2: Assigns tasks to "Developer," "Designer," and "QA" agents.
  • Requirement 3: Includes a "Risk Assessment" section generated by the AI.
  • Pillars to Show: Specification by Example, Code Blocks.

3. Strict Rules & Constraints

  1. Commander Mode ONLY: Manual coding is a failure. Use the AI to generate the implementation based only on your spec.
  2. Markdown Excellence: You must use at least 4 levels of headings (# through ####) to architect your document.
  3. Cross-Reference: Every requirement must be linked to a success metric.
  4. Visual Language: Your spec must include at least one mermaid diagram to define the data flow.

4. Evaluation Rubric

Criteria10x Architect (Excellent)Junior Dev (Needs Work)
Markdown HierarchyLogical flow from Header to Detail.Randomized or flat structure.
Logic MappingLists define clear "If/Then" logic.Vague, prose-heavy paragraphs.
PrecisionAI generated the code in one shot.AI required several "follow-up prompts."
Artifact QualitySpecification includes schema examples. No code/schema examples provided.

5. Submission Requirements

To pass this hackathon, you must provide:

  1. The Specification: Your completed .md file.
  2. The Result: The final codebase generated by the AI.
  3. The Proof: Screenshots of the functional feature and passing tests.
  4. A Reflection: Describe how your choice of Markdown features (lists vs. tables vs. code blocks) impacted the AI's accuracy.

[!IMPORTANT] Good luck, Commander. Markdown is your weapon of choice.
